Binocular Vision – Causes, Symptoms, And Treatment

There are many different types of eye issues that people face sometimes. Binocular vision is one of the worst eye problems that anyone can have.

What Is Binocular Vision?

Many people describe this problem in many ways. Meanwhile, our brain takes image information from both of our eyes. For many cases, our brain faces a condition when our eyes are unable to align properly. And for this problem, the victim or affected person may experience blurry vision. This is called binocular vision.

What are the causes of Binocular Vision?

Each of our eyes creates a different image. And our brain combines them and give an align and other details. But due to many causes, we sometimes affected with binocular vision. Including

Strabismus                                                                                                                         

It is one of the known causes of this problem. This might be happening due affected eye muscles have the different type of difficulties. Such as:
1. Paralyzed or weak eye muscle
2. Too strong or overactive eye muscle
etc
All of them can result in binocular vision.

Amblyopia or Lazy Eye

This time problem happens to the opposite causes. This time maybe your eyes providing right information but your brain avoiding those input. Which effect your depth perception and other visual abilities.

These two are the most common causes of binocular vision. But there are more.

Diabetes: This can affect blood vessels that supply the retina at the back the eye. This same thing also affects our nerves that control eye muscle movements.

Brain tumors: Brain tumors behind the eye can create a problem with the free movements of our eye muscle. And sometimes it also damages out optic nerve.

Aneurysm: An Aneurysm is also known as a bulge in a blood vessel. Which create pressure on the optic nerve and restrict eye muscle movement.

Symptoms

When a person affected with the binocular vision problem, he or she can face multiple problems. Including

  • Double vision
  • Motion sickness
  • Blurry Vision
  • Headache
  • Anxiety
  • Poor depth perception
  • Poor balance of while walking
  • Aching eyes
  • Lightheadedness
  • Nausea
  • Shadowed vision
  • Neck pain
  • Head tilting
  • Shoulder pain

Those are the most common symptom. Once someone affected those symptoms should visit an eye care center. Only an optometrist can find out what is really happening. Maybe the optometrist will do an eye exam to see wheater it is a binocular vision or something else. But the victim should visit the clinic as soon as possible.

Treatment

Good news is that eye problem can be treated. As I mentioned earlier, first you need to go to the eye clinic to make sure whether it is a binocular vision or something else. Because you cannot guarantee anything just by symptom. There is some specialized eye exam which determines the patient problem.

After knowing the details, the optometrist can start the treatment process. Most known treatment for this issue is the therapy and the glasses. But the treatment process can be different for different people.
