Resurfacing Cream – Something I Wish I’d Used Sooner

I’d suffered with uneven, dull-looking skin for years. I’d been carrying out my usual skin care routine and regularly exfoliating as I thought was right to do so. In truth, I was never particularly happy with how my skin looked afterwards and this continued until someone told me to use a resurfacing cream and for one reason or another, after years of holding out – I did.

I had thought I should stay away from anything with ‘resurfacing’ in the name as a room-mate with sensitive skin once used a peel that left them with inflamed,  sore skin for days. So you can understand my hesitancy.

However, all that said, the results I ended up enjoying were amazing. I’ll go into a bit more detail in a second, but suffice to say that I wish I’d begun using one sooner as my skin now has a radiance that I thought I’d lost in my twenties. This led me to do a little research into why.

My Resurfacing Cream Made My Acne Marks Fade

The cream that I chose contained retinoic acid, which is also known as vitamin A or retinol. Apparently – according to what I found online – retinoic acid is what is created when vitamin A is absorbed into the body and natural enzymes change it. During the process, new skin cells are produced and blemishes are reduced at the same time as other ingredients working to remove dead skin cells.

Well, that’s the theory and I can say that in practice, it’s exactly what my resurfacing cream delivered. I’d had acne scars for years and I found their appearance to be greatly reduced even after just a few weeks.

Use it Twice a Week For Best Effects

I found that when I used it once every two weeks, it offered me the best results. It said that you could use it as much as three times a week, but I was happy with what it was doing, so I didn’t want to affect the impact it was having.

Within a couple of weeks, I kind of got used to having glowing skin that I was very proud to show off – having spent years covering up with loose-fitting clothes. For someone like me in their early forties, this kind of rejuvenation was an absolute godsend.

I had a little irritation at the beginning, sure, but that quickly faded. I later learned that this was a natural part of the process of ‘routinization that occurs and your body just becomes used to it.

Next to No Side Effects

The great thing about newer types of resurfacing gels and creams is that they’re designed to be gentle. You only have to use a pea-sized amount on your cheeks, chin, nose and forehead after cleansing and moisturizing and you’ll usually experience nothing more than a little irritation – at the start, which then disappears completely.

I was able to put on makeup and an SPF 30 sunscreen afterward, so it didn’t disrupt my daily routine at all. At the end of the day, the results are what counts and they’ve been amazing!

Resurfacing Cream – Use it or Regret it Like Me

Now, nobody is going to force you to use a product like this, so it’s something that you have to decide for yourself. From personal experience, however, I can tell you that I’m kicking myself over how long I waited to start using it. I could have been enjoying much smoother, much younger looking skin far earlier if I’d given it a try that bit sooner.

You only have to try incorporating a resurfacing product into your skincare routine for a short while to start seeing the benefits and when they become apparent, you’ll understand what I mean.

As soon as you see that lovely glowing skin that comes from using it, you’ll wonder – like me – what exactly stopped you from trying it before. Try it for yourself sooner rather than later and I know you’ll be sold on it from the get go.
